Lorenzo Albertazzi
Principal Investigator

He is associate professor at Eindhoven University of Technology and group Leader at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia. He obtained his PhD in Biophysics in 2011 from the Scuola Normale Superiore (Italy), and has been working in renowned international institutes such as the Chemistry Department of University of Pisa (Italy), Material Research Lab of University of California Santa Barbara (USA) and the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC barcelona). He is Principal Investigator of 10 granted projects for a total of over 4M€ including: VENI grant 2014 and a VIDI grant in 2019 from Netherlands Science Organization, AXA grant 2015, ERC Starting Grant 2017, Coordinator of an ITN network 2018.

Role in the project: He will contribute to this project with the expertise and facilities in nanoparticles and EVs characterization using advanced microscopy.

Stijn Van Veen

PhD Student

He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Molecular Life Sciences obtained at Wageningen University. He did his master’s thesis within a multidisciplinary cooperation focused on imaging the invasion process of phytopathogens, which cultivated an interest in elucidating the mechanisms behind complex biological systems through high-resolution imaging.

Role in the project: He will set up high-throughput super-resolution microscopy to characterize the (artificial) EVs in great detail.
